1.Ionic bond. Principle, mechanism, types. Provide examples of substances that contain ionic bonds (minimum 3).

in fact, there is no pure Ionic bond. But when the difference of electronegativity is enough high, we call it ionic. The larger the difference in electronegativity between the two atoms involved in the bond, the more ionic (polar) the bond is. And as the electronegativity of the two species are so different, one of them tends to capt an electron from the other. so we call A- and B+, and call them ions. the probability of finding that electron is much higher in the orbit of A then on the B's. And they are stable because both ions have now the electronic configuration of a noble gas. The bond is formed to attain stable octate structure. Everything tends to the minimal energy and stability, and full filling every orbit makes the atoms more stable.
