I have a question about the challenge problem in Unit 1. Problem 1. I don't understand the derivation of equation 1.4. The resulting equation is 0 = -3V + W + X + 2(X + Z) I understand all the terms with the exception of the + X. The term with the X exponent is [L x T^-2]^X. Should this be -2X and not + X?

It appears to me that since T = 0 it's exponent of -2 is dropped also, all the other exponents are from L. I'm confused as to where 1=-2X comes from.

I think I get it now. [L*T^-2] the acceleration due to gravity, or L/S/S ie meters per second per second. We want the velocity of the liquid NOT the acceleration. In 1.7 we see that X = -1/2 -1/2 * -2 = 1
