If y varies directly as x and y=10 when x= 2, find y when x= -6

Im posting it because i forgot how to do it, and i have finals.. why would i post it if i know how to do it..?

Yes, i know that. But i need help, step-by-step, on how to actually do the problem.
Use the "y=10 when x= 2" info to find k:\ \[ (10) = k(2) \]
Once you have k use: \[ y = k(-6) \]To find \(y\)
So y is -30?
