If 45.8 grams of potassium chlorate decomposes, how many grams of oxygen gas can be produced? 2 KClO3 → 2 KCl + 3 O2 I've never done a decomposition problem before :S

Step 1: u r provided with the mass of potassium chlorate, so find its number of moles by dividing by its molar mass. say the no of moles of KClO3 is x. Step 2: 2 moles of KClO3 gives 3 moles of O2 thus, No of moles of O2= 3/2*x= say this is y. Step 3: y* molar mass of O2 =mass of oxygen produced!
