An experimental spacecraft consumes a special fuel at a rate of 387 L/min. The density of the fuel is 0.820 g/mL and the standard enthalpy of combustion of the fuel is –25.5 kJ/g. Calculate the maximum power (in units of kilowatts) that can be produced by this spacecraft. 1 kW = 1 kJ/s

Ok.. so all you need to find is what is total amount of energy is being produced per second.. in order to get that.. you need to first find how much kg of fuel is being burnt per second.. since the fuel rate is given to you in L/min.. and density is also given to you.. can you find what is the fuel rate in Kg/sec?.. lets call this as x once you get that.. you know what is the enthalpy of combustion is 25.5kj/g so 1 gram ---- 25.5 kJ

hence X kg ----- ??? do the cross multiplication and get the value... that will the energy PER second.. and the required answer

I got it! Thanks!

your welcome!

Id did this problem for my own revision, was it 134,869.5 kj/s ?
