So I'm doing remainder theorem right now, and basically right now I'm stuck (i missed class today...). Here's my problem..., I had (x - 3) is a factor of X^4 + X^3 + 2X^2 + 8X - 48... I did 2, 1 1 2 8 -48 and resulted with 2 5 12 32 and 16 soo (X-2) (2X^3 + 5X^2 + 12X + 32 ) = 16. Now I have to find the zeros. So is this possible with this equaling 16 and not zero? Because in all the example problems he posted, they all = 0 and had check marks by them...so if it doesn't equal zero should I still find the zeros algebraically?

X-3 isn't a factor, -3 is a root but if -3 is a root, then X-(-3)=X+3 is a factor. So you have to divide X^4 + X^3 + 2X^2 + 8X - 48 by (X+3).
