True or false?

@timo86m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i think it false cuzz it should be sqrt((x2-x1)^2(y2-y1)^2) ^ ^ but they have the order flipped Wait for second opinion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on i think it a labeling error

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

d = sqrt((x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2) d = sqrt((1-x1)^2 + (1-y1)^2) ... plug in (x2,y2) = (1,1)

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x1-1)^2+(y1-1)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think true BUT they mislead you with labeling. usually it is x2-x1 not x1-x2 lol but they labeled it in right order at least.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes it's true and the order doesn't matter since (x-y)^2 = (y-x)^2 is true for all real numbers x and y

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so that's why you can say (x2-x1)^2 or (x1-x2)^2 and mean the same thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if it is squarred then it makes it positive. But still gotta be careful with labeling.
