was wondering if somebody could give me hand with the following question. Two cars start from rest at a red stop light. When the light turns green, both cars accelerate forward. The blue car accelerates uniformly at a rate of 4.2 m/s2 for 3.2 seconds. It then continues at a constant speed for 13.2 seconds, before applying the brakes such that the car’s speed decreases uniformly coming to rest 220.2 meters from where it started. The yellow car accelerates uniformly for the entire distance, finally catching the blue car just as the blue car comes to a stop. 1.) What is the total time the blu

You need to add the position function for the time it was accelerating to the position function for the time its velocity is constant. Since you know the total time and you know how far the first car went then you can set that distance equal to the position value you just found, set v=0 and solve for acceleration

The total time for the blue is the sum of the two times for the first car
