I have a question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have CO2, where O -- C --O with \(\delta \)- for O, dan 2\(\delta \)+ for C, how to determine \(\delta \) ??? Why 2\(\delta \)+ for C? why \(\delta \)- for O ??

OpenStudy (abb0t):

That means partial negative per oxygen and since there's two oxygen you gotta have a partial 2 to make the molecule neutral

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is \(\delta \) Electronegativity ??

OpenStudy (abb0t):

NO. It's often used to show partial +/- charges on molecules. Electronegativity is "X" or the Greek letter "chi"

OpenStudy (abb0t):

It's more complex than that but Idk if it's relevant. Unless this is for o-chem or p-chem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you so much @abb0t :)
