@hartnn a drawer contains 10 white and 6 black balls. what is the probability of randomly drawing a white and the black ball? help plz..
can you find the probability of drawing 1 black ball only from that drawer ?
The total is 16 balls. The probability of drawing a white ball would be 6 out of 16 (6/16)which reduces to 3/10
@ AlexysA can you explain why it reduces to 3/10?
if there are x black balls in a box with total y balls, the probability of drawing a black ball = x/y right ? here, what the probability of drawing a black ball=....? the probability of drawing a white ball=....? then, probability of randomly drawing a white and the black ball is just the product of these 2 events as they are independent.
@ hartnn 6/16 for black and 10/16 for white thats its correct??then multiplied this two events?
yes, you can just take the product since these 2 events are independent.
and yes, those are correct.
(6/16)x(10/16)=.234..there is no .234 in the choices..the choices are .36,.208,.25 and .3..
ohh...its drawing a white and "then" black ball?
so, first there are 16 balls, for white ball its 6/16 then since white ball is drawn out, there are only 15 balls left, so for black ball its 10/15 now multiply them ....
a white and a black ball..
a white and a black ball ----> means without replacement, which is what i assumed.
thanks a lot..
welcome :)
how about two white balls??is this correct??(10/16)(9/15)??
without replacement, yes, its correct.
