Which is the correct formula for the ionic compound formed between potassium and sulfur? is it KS2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

K2S. But that's a chem question :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol I know..but that section over there is dead

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's all good, I've done the same sometimes.

@gandalfwiz hey ! what about the correct formula for Na+ and (SO4)2- ? isnt it Na2SO4 since 'the compound is sodium sulphate I think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, it is. When you're making ionic compounds, you switch the number for the charges, so because Sulfate has a charge of 2-, the Sodium takes on the 2 and becomes Na2SO4. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes! i thought the same, but thanks
