Identify the following combinations of elements in a compound as ionic or molecular: a. nitrogen and oxygen b. potassium and oxygen c. phosphorus and flourine d. magnesium and chlorine Thank you! =)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Thanks for what?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Firstly, do you know what an ionic bond is?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

ionic bonds are between metals and non-metals, whilst molecular (also better known as covalent bonds) bonds are between only non-metals.

Hmm... maybe if I wrote "thank you in advance for anyone who tries to help me", I wouldn't have to come back here and see a sarcastic comment "thanks for what?"

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Are you seeking help or did you give up and just want the answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A- molecular since the elements are nonmetals b- ionic since 1 is a metal and 1 is a nonmetal c- molecular since they are both nonmetals d - ionic since 1 is a metal and 1 is a nonmetal
