OpenStudy (moonlitfate):

Find the function f that has the derivative f'(x)=4x+1 and whose graph passe through the point (1, 0).

OpenStudy (moonlitfate):

I was able to figure out par of the main function, but I think there's something missing. I have f(x) = 2x^2 + x ; since that would give f'(x) = 4x+1...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x^2+x-3

OpenStudy (moonlitfate):

I definitely missed something, the -3 on the end. Not sure where that came from

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm i definitely just started plugging in random numbers until the graph crossed at (1,0) lol but the derivative of -3 is zero so it's not gonna show up in the equation \[f \prime(x)=4x+1\]

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

you have the correct indefinite integral but it needs a constant \[y = 2x^2 + x + C\] now use the point (1, 0) to find C 0 = 2(1)^2 + 1 + C C = -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but if i had known this equation that's how i would've done it lol

OpenStudy (moonlitfate):

I definitely need to remember that! I always forget the small easy steps.
