How would I simplify (2e)(4e)(-e^-3) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You would use your exponent rules:\[ (2)(4)(-1)e^{(1)+(1)+(-3)} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(a^b)(a^c)=a^{b+c}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would I multiply the bases? and then add the exponents? or leave it as is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They all have the same base: \(e\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The base is merged into one, and the exponents are all added.

Coefficients call all pulled out to the front, due to the commutative property.
