OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know if the % of S Character is more then Acidic Strenght is More, But Here All compounds are triple Bond (sp hybrd) So Which One Will be More Acidic ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shubhamsrg @AravindG

OpenStudy (dls):

B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Reason ?

OpenStudy (dls):

whats it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is it so More acidic ? LOL

OpenStudy (dls):

I meant what is the answer?is it correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk..:)

OpenStudy (dls):

|dw:1362488394183:dw| Simple.

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

Seems about right

OpenStudy (dls):

?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

its CH3-CH---CH terminal alkynes are more acidic

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

Thats a nice way to represent triple bond! :D

OpenStudy (dls):

There is no option like tht sorry

OpenStudy (dls):

@chmvijay

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

He meat option 3 @DLS

OpenStudy (dls):

Its CH3-C≡C and not CH3-CH≡C.

OpenStudy (dls):

how can carbon have 5 valencies?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

I am sure that was just a typo.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol...

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

LOL!!!

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

What lol, DLS is right! B|

OpenStudy (dls):

lol

OpenStudy (abb0t):

alkanes get less acidic with increasing number of carbons. think of inductive effect. destabilization of conjugate. Also, the more s character the more acidic the molecule is due to stabilization of the negative charge. s orbitals are held closer to the nucleus than p orbitals. When there is more s character, the negative charge is closer to the nucleus, which is positively charged, and thus is stabilized more. Therefore Alkynes are more acidic than alkenes or alkanes.
