If you do 1,000 J of work on a system and remove 500 J of heat from it, what is the change in its internal energy? (Points : 1) 1,500 J 500 J 500 J 1,500 J

OpenStudy (amistre64):

hmmm, my gut says that the change is 500J since thats what youve removed or altered the system by. but i cant be certain that im reading it correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you i knew that was the answer i just needed confirmation :D

OpenStudy (amistre64):

not sure how much confirmation i can do :) but it does make some sense to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they each had a negative sign actually but my answer was just 500

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like one of them was -500 j and the other was -1,500 j

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ah, im thinking, and this is a guess, we add 1000 and remove 500 to get +500

OpenStudy (anonymous):

500
