Which of the following contains ionic bonding? H2O2 PO33- P2O5 AlCl3
PLEASE HELP!!
I would say D AlCl3. covalent bonding is when 2 or more elements share electrons (usually when nonmetals bond with nonmetals) ionic bonding is when one element steals another's electrons (usually when nonmetals bond with metals)
Ok awesome thanks can i ask you another question??
No problem :) Sure, fire away.
ok If the formula for a compound is represented by X2Y3 and the charge on the Y ion is -2, what is the charge in the X ion? +1 +2 +3 +4
I would think it would be +3. Because you have 2 X's and you have 3 Y's. If Y has a charge of -2. That makes it -6. Cause -3 x 2= -6 To balance that out. The charge of X would have to be +3. Which would be 2 x 3 = 6 And therefore -6 + 6 = 0 so it's balanced.
ok that makes alot of sense now lol thanks for helping me:)
I'm glad that makes sense! Hahaha I'm not too good at explaining things. :)
haha its ok me neither but i really appreciate your help im terrible at chemistry!! lol
You're welcome. :) yeah chem can be rough.
