Find the 6th term of the sequence in which t1 = -5 and tn = -5tn-1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have \[t _{n}=-5t _{n-1}\] correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so each succeeding value is just -5 times the previous value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so \[t _{6}=t _{0}\left( -5 \right)^{6-1}\] and t_0=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that would be -25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm...t_2=25, but t_6 is way more than that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-5)x(-5)x(-5)x(-5)x(-5)=-3125

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you!!! :)
