in my college we don't use trig

\[(f\circ g)'=f'\circ g\times g'\] is one way to write it \[\frac{dy}{dx}=\frac{dy}{du}\times \frac{du}{dx}\] is another

ok without trig \[\frac{d}{dx}[(x^2+7x)^8=8(x^2+7x)^7\times (2x+7)\]
