For a given period, which group of elements on the periodic table has the lowest electronegativity? A. alkali metals B. alkaline earth metals C. transition metals D. halogens E. metalloids

OpenStudy (jfraser):

Do you know the definition of electronegativity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@JFraser Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the right answer Alkali metals?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

ok, then the question then is: what group of elements are least likely to exert a strong pull on their bonded electrons? the group of halogens that's almost full and needs to gain electrons, or the alkali metals who are desperate to lose electrons and empty their valcence level?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alkali metals?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the right answer would be alkali metals, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@JFraser

OpenStudy (jfraser):

yes
