The graph below represents which system of inequalities? A) y < -2x + 6 y < x + 2 B) y <= -2x + 6 y <= x + 2 C) y < 2/3x - 2 y > 2x + 2 D) None of the above
@Mertsj
which choice can we automatically eliminating
eliminate*
I don't know. that is the problem.
we can automatically eliminate b because the lines in the graph are dashed, not solid. and <= would be a solid line
now you can graph a and c and see which choice is the answer
So it is either A or C?
or d
I think it is D.
have you tried graphing though
on paper, yeah. I think that is it.
@SingleSixxs_Fiance
i just graphed a and this is what it looks like. a is your answer
Okay thank you!
how did you graph it
not like that. can you show me how you did that?
y < -2x + 6 start by plotting the y-intercept which in this case is 6. so make a point at (0,6) then use the slope which is -2. slope is rise/run, so from (0,6), go down 2 and over to the right 1
then make a point there and make a dashed line
ohhhhh okay! is that all?
and you would shade under the line
yea, then just do it to the other line and you should get it
Okay, so now for this one: The graph below represents which system of inequalities? y <= -2x + 3 y <= x + 3 y >= -2x + 3 y >= x + 3 y <= -3x + 2 y <= -x + 2 y > -2x + 3 y > x + 3
oh. do you think you can try that one yourself?
I did. none of my graphs matched that one.
can i see your graphs
yes, but can you tell me how to do the x axis part? Imma go over my graphs and check.
what do you mean?
how do i plot and stuff on my graph for the x axis. i think i did it wrong.
you plot the y-intercept first. then use the slope to plot the next point
which is?
here i'll use this as an example y <= -2x + 3 the y-intercept is 3. so the first point you need to plot is (0,3). the slope is -2. slope is rise/run. so from the point (0,3), go down 2 and over to the right 1, which would be (1,1). plot a point there. since the inequality is <=, our line is solid. so make a solid line through your two points. shade under the line.
