The curve above is the graph of a sinusoidal function. It goes through the point (8,1). Find a sinusoidal function that matches the given graph. If needed, you can enter as pi in your answer.
looks like the graph of \(y=-\cos(x)\) but i cannot see from the picture what the period is
the period is 24
I did the last one. I'm going to recommend VERY STRONGLY that we4 see your work on this one.
doesn't look like it is 24
would it be 2pi/x = 24?
it is not 24
Go peak to peak.
i know there is a 24 labelled on the picture, but that does not mean it is 24 do what @tkhunny said
ok. so peak to peak is 16. so 2pi/b =16... b= pi/8
ah it is 16, yes
It's VERY confusing when you use the same variable for two different things. If your function is y = f(x), don't use 'y' of 'x' to do anything else until the problem is done. Thank you for switching to 'b' on the second pass.
and so yes, \(b =\frac{\pi}{8}\)
so the answer is -cos(pi/8)x. Thank you very much!
the \(x\) should be inside the parentheses, but yes, that is it
\[y=-\cos (\frac{ \pi }{ 8 }x)\] @szesch
thank you
