The reaction above is spontaneous from left to right. Will the reaction from left to right occur to a significant degree in the absence of enzyme? Yes No Cannot tell from the information given

OpenStudy (prakharluv):

where is the reaction????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is a picture of the reaction in your question. Next time, you should post it, so that people actually know what you're talking about. ~~~~~~~ So, take a look at the picture that I posted. The reaction is SPONTANEOUS, from left, to right. What that means is that the reaction NORMALLY happens, from left to right. Lactase is an enzyme that NORMALLY turns lactose into glucose and galactose. But the picture DOES NOT tell us how fast the reaction will happen. It doesn't even tell us how many molecules will go in, and how many will come out. There are no numbers! You see? ~~~~~~~~~~~ So, let's take a look at your question again: "Will the reaction from left to right occur to a significant degree in the absence of enzyme?" Again, remember, this picture is just a picture with words. It has no numbers. It tells us nothing about the degree of the reaction.
