How can i write a reaction equation for NH3 + H2SO4 ->

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got this but how would i get 2NH3 + H2SO4 -> (NH4)2SO4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how can i get the net ionic equation? @thomaster

thomaster (thomaster):

First write the complete ionic equation. Separate the aqueous compounds into ions.

thomaster (thomaster):

they're all aqueous by the way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2N + 2H3 + 2H + SO4 -> 2N +2H4 + SO4 2H3 + 2H -> 2H4

thomaster (thomaster):

oops sorry made a mistake. NH3 is a gas. It will be 2NH3 + SO4^2- + 2H+ --> 2HN4+ +SO4^2- The net ionic equation is 2NH3 + 2H+ --> 2NH4+ you can divide it by 2 then you'll get NH3 + H+ -->NH4+

thomaster (thomaster):

but the way you did it was good :P
