help me with net ionic and total ionic for this Ba(OH)2 + Na2SO4 -> BaSO4 + 2NaOH

please

just net ionic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

beck double replacement : Ba(OH)2 + Na2(SO4) ====> Ba2Na + HSO4 HNO3+ NaOH= H2O+ NaNO3: double repla... acid nitric + sodium hydroxide = water + sodium nitrate

OpenStudy (preetha):

Prettyboy, unfortunately that is not correct. It is double displacement but it goes like this: Each compound has a positive and negative ion. Ba is positive, and OH is negative. In Na2SO4, Na is + and SO4-2. So when the double displacement happens, the two compounds flip the positive and negative ions. Ba picks up the negative ion SO4 and Na picks up the OH. Balance the charges. Then you have to figure out if any of the products is insoluble, gas or undissociated. IN this case, BaSO4 is insoluble. Can you write the balanced equation? Then I'll help you with the next step of getting to the net ionic
