a substance is 54.1% Ca, 43.2% O and 2.7% H by mass. When 140g of this substance is reacted with 140g HCl it produces water and a salt. What is the mass of the salt produced from this reaction?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

turn those percentages into mass, then turn those masses into moles. Find the mole ratio and you have a formula. then use the masses of the reactants (it's now a limiting reactant problem) to find the mass of product formed.
