13C and 14C are isotopes of 12C, which has 6 electrons, 6 protons, and 6 neutrons. What is the arrangement of subatomic particles in 14C?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

The nuclei number can only variable in the number of neutrons, as if we added more protons we would get another element, and adding or removing electrons would create a ion of the specific element. So for the isotope: \[_{6}^{14}C\] We have 6 protons, 6 electrons and can you then guess how many neutrons it contain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 7 neutrons
