OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

How much energy is absorbed when a hydrogen atom jumps from n=3 to n=4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1365544721794:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't know sorry

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

I know the energies of the energy levels, but wanted to double check on this part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20 h w - 12 hw= 8 hw

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

@modphysnoob the book wants in eV. It says use Ef-Ei (final-initial) Would I say -0.85-(-13.6 ev)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know where these number are coming from

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

My book gives the energy level values of n=3 as -1.51 ev and n=4 as -.085. To find energy absorbed, it says use Energy final -energy initial

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Just wanted to double check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, ok , then just subtract , yes correct

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Thanks!
