Which sector below has the greatest area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

How about calculating all areas and deciding? The area of a sector is A = (n/360)(pi)r^2 where n = arc measure in degrees The first sector has area: A = (30/360)(pi)8^2 = (1/12)pi(64) = 16(pi)/3 Now find the area of the other sectors and compare.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay! Like A = (60/360)(3.14)5^2?

Cool, so it's A! Thanks! @mathstudent55

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The first sector has area: A1 = (30/360)(pi)8^2 = 16.7 The second sector has area: A2 = (60/360)(pi)5^2 = 13.1 The third sector has area: A3 = (45/360)(pi)6^2 = 14.1 The fourth sector has area: A4 = (90/360)(pi)4^2 = 12.6 Good job, @Tally5667
