Which solution of sugar in water has the highest molarity? a.) 10g sugar in 250 mL of solution b.) 20g sugar in 300 mL of solution c.) 35g sugar in 500 mL of solution d.) 60g sugar in 1L of solution
I have to divide the grams by the mL to find out which one that has the highest molarity right?
Molarity is moles per liter not grams per liter.
So you could tell which one has the highest concentration by dividing grams by liters but it would not be molarity.
Ok but molarity is the amount of concentration in a solution though..
Yes. That is true.
But since all of these are sugar solutions, the one with the most grams per liter would also be the one with the most moles per liter.
a.) .04 b.) .0666666667 c.) .07 d.) .06 ??? (I think) This wat I got when i divided each..
Isn't 1L----> 1000 mL ??
Yes. 1 L is 1000 ml and what you have calculated is grams per milliliter
Oh so I have to calculate grams per L??
No.
Did you understand what I said earlier?
So it's d then?
I said since are of these solutions are grams of sugar per milliliter of solution, the one with the most grams per milliliter or per liter would also be the one with the most moles per liter and so with have the highest molarity.
No. It is not D
It's C.) then. Cuz thts the one tht was the highest when calculated.
Yes.
Oh ok I thought u were telling me at first tht I calculated everything wrong, but I miss understood. Thanks! :)
