Which is the graph of y = 2(x – 3)^2+ 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plug in x=0, x=1, x= -1, and etc. This will give you y coordinates...then just plot the points.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be the third one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got something different.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

grrrr math... i hate math...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It'll get better. Plug in 0, 1, and -1 for x and tell me what your y's are

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sooo i dont think im doing it right :/ i got y=-20 when i plugged in 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

errr -16 now hahaha oh gosh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 20...but that does not match any of the graphs...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah :/ i saw that too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when i plugged in 1....i got -6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this right: \[y= 2(x-3)^{2}+2\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and when i plug in -1 i get -30......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

heres what wolfram got: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D2%28x-3%29%5E2+%2B2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i would just say the last one then..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see, I assumed your vertex is at 0... try x= 2, 3, and 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=4 for all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is what I have: (2,4) (3,2) try x= 3 again. (4,4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awhe i got it! its the second one!!!! thank you SO much!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for my not very good math skills :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No prob. glad I can help.
