if x is less than y and you want the maximum value for all three of them, the easiest way to be to maximize x in the first equation, x+y=201. when you maximize x here, you get that x=100 and y=101. this means that z=300, and your total comes out to 300+100+101=501 Other solutions could be that x=50, y=151, and z=250, for a total of 451, which is less. if x=0, y=201, z=200, you get 401, which is still less. the smaller the value of x, the lowwer the maximum answer, therefore, 501 is the greatest
