What is the gravitational force experienced by a 70kg person standing on Earth's surface due to the moon? The moon's mass is 7.36*10^22 kg, and the distance to the moon is 3.82*10^5 km.

\[F=G \frac{ m _{1}m _{2} }{ r ^{2} }=G \frac{ 70kg7.36\times10^{22}kg }{ (3.82\times10^{5}km)^{2} }\]
That's the equation I had -- when I solve, I get approximately 2356.27. It's a multiple choice problem -- the answers are: a) 0.24 N b) 0.024 N c) 0.0024 N d) 0.00024 N I'm confused as to how my answer fits in with these.
Well the input terms are incorrect. Remember distance is in meters, not kilometers. The correct equation is as follows: \[F=\frac{ (6.67 x 10^-11)(70)(7.36 x 10^{22}) }{ (3.82 x 10^8)^2 }=0.0024 N\] So answer C is correct
