lim ((x^(1/2))+4)/(x-4) as x=4

So plug in your value of x=4 in to the equation, you would have an equation that is being divided by zero which mean you have an asymptote when x=4 is approaching the right side (positive) and left side. It is approaching infinity. The left side is approaching negative infinity and right is approaching positive infinity. Since these two limits are not equal, the limit at x=4 does not exist.
