do sigma and pi bonds affect solubility of organic compounds?.... pls explain d reason for ur answer

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

yes they affect i think!! Pie bonds are more polar bcoz of their free pie bond electrons ca polarize very easily by electronegative atoms in a molecules as they are polar have different solubality.. where in case of sigma bonds the bonds are more rigid though the molecules can show polariy but very less compared to pie bond hence their solubality may change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if that's d case culd u use that to explain y organic compounds r less soluble in water than in organic solvents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chmvijay solubality?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

what solubality @areesha. 1D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

judging by ur explanation@chmvijay, alkynes are meant to be more soluble than alkanes since they have more pi bonds.. but this is not the case.. thus ur hypothesis isn't that plausible

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chMvijay the LOL would be appropriate directed at yourself. -___-
