the reaction of iron and oxygen to form iron oxide has an enthalpy of -1625 kJ. Is this reaction, 4Fe(s) + 3O2(g) → 2Fe2O3(s) ΔH = -1625 kJ, endothermic or exothermic?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

ΔH = -ve means exothermic and ΔH = +ve means endothermic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so endothermic?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

just see the answer and question dont get confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whoops i see its exothermic because the answer to the equation is a negative.

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

then why did you say endothermic then :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understood what you were saying after i said that, silly me, thanks so much :)

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

sorry if u got hurted by that :) have a nice time enjoy
