Could someone please help me/teach me to graph vector <5i + 4j -3k>.
5i + 4j -3k is the same as <5, 4, -3>
Yes, i see that part. It's graphing it that tricks me.
create an xyz axis start at the origin (0,0,0) then you move 5 units along the x axis (in the positive x direction) move 4 units along the y axis (in the positive y direction) then 3 units along the z axis (in the negative z direction) where you end up is where the tip of the vector will lie the initial point of the vector will be at (0,0,0)
z is the part that i cannot graph.
it's hard to draw out or visualize, but give it your best shot ideally, you would use interactive software to graph (so you can spin the axis around)
imagine the xy axis is the floor
you would go to the point (5, 4) on the floor then you would sink 3 units into the floor to land at (5, 4, -3)
Hmm. I can't really imagine this. So because z is negative it would go downward?
correct
