What is the percent composition of cobalt (IV) chlorite? If so, can you explain the process?

sam (.sam.):

cobalt (IV) chlorite CoCl2

sam (.sam.):

Percent composition in Cobalt or chlorine?

thomaster (thomaster):

Co = 58.933 g/mol Cl = 35.065 g/mol (you have 2 chlorine here) |dw:1367399149382:dw| now when you wan't to calculate how many % the cobalt part is. You divide 58.933 by 100 and then multiply by 129.063. Then you get 45.66%. The chlorine part must be 100-45.66= 54.34%. To be sure: (70.13*100)/129.063 = 54.3378 % = 54.34% :)
