Reaction for ionic compounds are faster than covalent.why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Coz ionic compounds are already dissociated whereas covalent compounds require additional energy to break the bonds b/w there molecules

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With covalent compounds, there's the additional energy-requiring step of having to break the covalent bond between the atoms that need to react, whereas with ionic substances they're obviously already dissociated, so the reaction doesn't have the extra energy and time constraints of waiting for that step to happen. Hope I helped :)

I'm still confused.can u explain a bit more?
