The distance a spring will stretch varies directly with how much weight is attached to the spring. If a spring stretches 11 inches with 75 pounds attached, how far will it stretch with 65 pounds attached? Round to the nearest tenth of an inch.
a spring equation is: F = kx F = mass * gravity accelaration where x = stretch and K = linear elastic coefficient which is the same for each spring. So you must calculate the K to a x=11 inches (stretch) and to a 75 pounds (dont forget to convert it to a force by multiplying by the gravity acceleration = 9.81 m/s^2) after you get the K you can successfuly calculate the x for a 65 pounds mass with the same equation
the answers are 9.5in , 10.9 , 11.2in , and 12.7in which one is it
I wont give you the answer. You have to get there by yourself. This site is made for us to learn and not to copy paste values
lets calculate the K for the first case: F= kx 75*32.17 = k * 11 k = 219.34 Now for the second case: F = kx 65*32.17 = 219.34*x x = 9.5
how did u get 9.5 thats the part i dont get
read my first reply. K is the same on every spring
ohh i see it now thx for the help
