can someone teach me how to calculate the pH of a solution when the morality is given. For example if the solution is at 298 k. What is the pH of 2.3 10-2 M HCl. I don't want just the answer, but explanation on how to do it.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

298 K is basically 25 degrees celsius. pH is just the negative logarithm of the hydronium ion concentration so, pH=-log[H+]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be like -log(2.3*10^-2)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 1.6 but it says that's wrong

OpenStudy (aaronq):

it is 1.64, how many sig figs do you have to give
