find the length of the radius of the circle with three of its points having vertices. (8,11),(9,-6) and (3,12)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since you're given 3 points, you can connect the 3 vertices to form a triangle. When the vertices are connected, you'll see that the sides of the triangle are chords of the circle.

And you'll then find the perpendicular slope of the chords. Then you'll do the same for another chord. So now you have 2 perpendicular slope of 2 chords. Now you need to find the midpoint of each chord and use that to write an equation for the 2. After finding the 2 lines, find the intersecting point of the 2 lines and use the distance formula from the intersecting point (center) to one of the vertices and that'll give you the radius.
