find the vertical, horizontal and oblique asymptotes of (x^2-5) / (x-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it has a vertical asymptote at x=2 b/c of the value for which the denominator equals zero i.e.,where the function become infinite.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for horizontal asymptote: \[\lim_{x \rightarrow \infty} \frac{x ^{2}-5} { x-2 }\] it gives infinity so it has no horizontal asymptote.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you getting this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I got it. so would the slant asymptote be x+2
