A nitric acid solution is found to have a pH of 3. Determine the [H3O+] and [OH-]. Please explain how you got the answer, I have a ton of these type of questions.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Theres 2 way, (1) find pOH, knowing that: pH + pOH = pKw = 14 then, pH = -log[H3O+] and pOH = -log[OH-] or (2) find pH: pH=-log[H3O+] and [OH][H3O+]=1*10^-14 ps. it's the same thing if you know logarithm rules
