Someone help me with math?? I'm really confused. Suppose you divide a polynomial by a binomial. How do you know if the binomial is a factor of the polynomial? Create a sample problem that has a binomial which IS a factor of the polynomial being divided, and another problem that has a binomial which is NOT a factor of the polynomial being divided.
start by writing it in factored form and then multiply out then you will have a factor for sure
for example, i pick \(x+2\) as a factor of some polynomial then if i multiply \((x^2+x-1)(x+2)\) i know \(x+2\) is a factor
on the other hand, if i want to make sure that \(x+2\) is NOT a factor, i would take for example \[(x^2+x-1)(x+2)+5\] and now \(x+2\) cannot be a factor of the result, since it will leave a remainder of 5 you can make up your own now i am sure
