How does fuel cell work?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

i will tell this by taking H2 fuel cell as example its like ur electrochemical cell at the anode hydrogen gets oxidised to liberate 2 electrons and 2 protons the electrons flows through the external circuit and protons moves through the membrane separated anode and cathode compartement. At the cathode , The O2 get two protons and 2 electrons and get reduced to water, which not a waste material the challenges in making fuel cell is the electrodes which should have tendency to oxidise and reduce the H2 and O2 quickly so that more current flows in the external circuit Please find the image attached with this answer
