Parth (parthkohli):

A bullet of mass \(\rm 8 g\) moving with velocity \(\rm 400 ms^{-1}\) gets embedded in a freely suspended wooden block of mass \(\rm 800 g\). What is the velocity acquired by the block?

Parth (parthkohli):

I keep getting \(\rm 4 ms^{-1}\) but my course module says it's \(3.96 \rm ms^{-1}\).

Parth (parthkohli):

@Mashy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

momentum conservation 8 X 400 = 808 X (velocity of wooden block)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you forgot to consder the masss of the bullet in the wooden block :P

Parth (parthkohli):

OMG, wait...

Parth (parthkohli):

Let me try that.

Parth (parthkohli):

I'm a newb. Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

newb? :O.. you have 99 smartscore

Parth (parthkohli):

Yeah. SmartScore is just a number. No wait, SmartScore is a word.
