A change in enthalpy occurs whenever heat is released or absorbed by a chemical reaction under constant pressure conditions? TRUE OR FALSE!?

@thomaster

thomaster (thomaster):

you know what enthalpy is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no.. lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait isn't it the total measure of thermal energy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@thomaster

thomaster (thomaster):

yea

thomaster (thomaster):

heat = energy so when the enthalpy changes when heat (energy) is released or absorbed

OpenStudy (abb0t):

whoa. mind blown.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so true. & what about this one?When concentrated sulfuric acid is added to water in a beaker, the beaker gets very warm. The temperature change indicates an exothermic process has occurred.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats true too right?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

warmth is an indication of release of energy. look up the definition for exothermic and endothermic :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am I right? @abb0t
