OpenStudy (xanthe):

Which substances would you expect to be the hardest solid? a)RbCl b)naphthalene c)scandium d)silicon carbide?

OpenStudy (xanthe):

Is it d?But metals are hard too rgt?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

hard would be those with smaller atomic radius soft would be those with bigger atomic radius. do you know the periodic trend for atomic radius by looking at your periodic table? and napthalene is not a transition metal, so you can cross that one out.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

soft transition metals tend to also have low electronegativity, if i remember correctly, copper is the "fluorine of transition metals"

OpenStudy (xanthe):

Ok tx again><
