Everyday Vivian.

OpenStudy (hunus):

The area of the sector is going to be the area of that quarter of the circle |dw:1368651912452:dw| The area of that triangle within the sector is going to have two legs whose length is equal to the radius of the circle |dw:1368651987434:dw| How can we use these two areas to solve for the area of the shaded area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The area you want is the sector minus the triangle. The sector is: (1/4)(pi)(9^2) = (20.25)(pi) The triangle is: (1/2)(9^2) = 40.5 So, your area is (20.25)(pi) - 40.5
